"Dancing with the Local Stars", a production of WDCC, delighted audiences at all four performances February 21-23. The dance routines were varied and filled with fun. What a great time for us all!
"Oh…what a night! Congrats to all who were involved in this year's production! The hype just kept building…night after night, and I knew Saturday night would be the stellar night and it was…the energy in the room was awesome and it all came from you! Enjoy the buzz as this town is buzzin!" said Mary Kendall in an e-mail to our dancers and the committee.
Wowing the crowd with their energetic dance and winning the most awards were Terri Sesselmann and Dave Kennedy with a total of 7. The Critics Choice award was given to Diane Braun and Jim Hanley on Thursday night for their fabulous fox trot. Chad Dawson and Francine Sagan Kilcrease won People's Choice at the Saturday Matinee and Best of Show on Friday night. On Friday night, People's Choice went to Dianne Hoofman and Patrick Johnson for their fun dance. At the Saturday Matinee Cari Draft and Corey Christoffersen won Best of Show.
To our dancers, "We hope you enjoyed your experience being either a COMMUNITY STAR or one of our COMMUNITY DANCERS. We so appreciate each and every one of you. Every $$$$ that was donated will help replenish a lot of food pantries at a time when those shelves are pretty baron," said Mary Kendall.
Fantastic additional entertainment got the crowd involved: break dancing by 61Syx from Grand Rapids; singing by Sylvia Yacoub, Muskegon native and top 10 on The Voice; Andrea Mathews, singer and Muskegon native; and the Hans Kliphuis competitive ballroom dancers.
A warm thank you goes out to John King, Darci Reinink, Mary Gee and Bob Roossien for serving as guest judges for our event.
The grand total, after expenses, was $97, 122!
Great job everyone!
