 FAQs

  • The funds we raise stay right here, benefiting Muskegon County and surrounding areas — north to Hart in Oceana County, south to West Olive, and east to Coopersville and Conklin in Ottawa County. Our sponsors, donors, and event participants trust that every dollar given will directly impact our region, and we proudly honor that commitment.

  • Eligible recipients must be established, IRS-designated tax-exempt non-profits (502(c))(3), (4), (5), (6), or (19)), educational institutions, or government units operating for at least two years. We also look for groups that demonstrate strong fiscal responsibility and transparency — ensuring that at least 75% of annual expenses go directly to programs, not overhead.

  • CGC acknowledges applications immediately. Applications approved by CGC proceed to the WDCC Board for review and approval. All proposed donations exceeding $1,000 then proceed to the WDCC membership for their vote. CGC also works with the applicant to obtain necessary information and supporting documents for their request.

  • Each application stands on its own merit. Applicants are encouraged to apply for the amount they require, not to simply ask for the amount they think WDCC is likely to donate.

  • We want to support the mission of local non-profits by assisting in support for their programs, projects, and events. We can assist with supplies, equipment, transportation and activities expenses, capital campaigns, educational and professional development programs for employees and clients, and helping to fund items on a “Wish List”.

  • We support programs, projects, and events that benefit your organization, your employees, volunteers, care recipients, clients, program recipients, students, local communities, and more. We do not donate directly to individuals.

For organizations that operate outside our geographic zone, the money may leave WDCC’s geographic zone, but it must come back to benefit WDCC’s geographic zone.
